All Chincoteague Pony, all the time

Me on Surfer Girl, a 2005 islandbred Chincoteague Pony mare out of Virginia Belle by Surfer Dude. July 2012.

Hi there! I’m Sarah, age seventeen, currently residing in Georgia.

I absolutely adore Chincoteague Ponies and spend quite a lot of my abundant free time researching them. I know every herd member by name and keep careful notes on their whereabouts and offspring. I also love seeing photos of off-island ponies at home! If you have any, please share. :)
I have had the privilege of attending Pony Penning every year since 2004 (when I was just seven years old!) and it is by far the highlight of my year. I’ve also been able to visit the island very briefly on New Year’s Day 2013 and I’m looking forward to my day trip in June 2013. Can’t wait to see all the foals!

As for my other equine activities, I come from a mainly western background and am now re-learning English riding and learning to jump. I’ve taken regular lessons for the past six years.
I am also heavily involved with my local therapeutic riding stable, where I volunteer for events, horse shows/Special Olympics, weekly lessons as well as helping to train/exercise the therapy horses. If the program gets a grant this year, they plan on giving me a paid internship position. Let’s hope for that :)
